Body Psychotherapy
Body Psychotherapy is more appropriate for those who prefer a more ‘hands-on’ approach to personal therapy and growth work. It suits those who have had a bodywork in the past and have found it beneficial.
At the heart of Body Psychotherapy is a belief that somatic processing can unlock unexpressed feelings and a sense of ‘stuckness’ in the body. The difference with non-psychotherapeutic bodywork is that the touch based approaches focus is on the direct ‘felt sense’ of the body arising from movement, body observation and the sensation of touch. The aim being to connect mind and body, to reclaim a sense of wholeness with which to better move through life whatever life has to bring.
It involve all the elements of Body Psychotherapy and Somatic Coaching but used in association with direct physical work, drawn from traditions like Postural Integration (Painter), Fascial work, Deep tissue Bodywork, Cranial-sacral work, Lymphatic Drainage and Polarity Therapy.
This again can be used as long term work, physical maintenance or short term problem solving.
It is most useful when used in the sense of exploring one’s body history, to address long term patterns of holding, limitation or restriction related to life experiences, stress and trauma.
